Partner telephone systems were originally designed for telephone systems Installation and Repair to be performed by the owner of the telephone system. The Repair, Installation and the Programming of the telephone system was designed completely modular. With the idea that those who purchased the Partner telephone system could use standard four conductor telephone modular cords to connect to the modular telephone jacks built into the telephone system processor and expansion modules.
Three telephone jacks located on the upper portion of the Lucent or Avaya Partner ACS 308 enables the connection of three telephone lines into each module of the 308 system, five telephone lines can be connected to the Avaya Partner ACS 509 processor module. The system telephones plug into the bottom half of the telephone systems processors and expansion modules in the same manner. Repair of the Partner telephone is divided into three areas with telephone systems repair issues being able to occur as a repair problem with the Partner telephone, the telephone cable between the telephone and the telephone system or with the hardware of a phone system. Each area would be able to be repaired and tested by the customer when this method was implemented for Installation.
When the repair issue is suspected to be with the telephone set. Testing can be done by exchanging the telephone with a known phone that works correctly. When the repair issue is suspected to involve the telephone system cable testing can be done by connecting a ACS phone directly to the telephone extension port at the control equipment. When the telephone system repair problem is suspected to be with the telephone systems hardware the repair problem will still exist when a telephone is connected directly into the telephone port however if the telephone repair does not exist on other telephone extension ports the repair problem will have been located.
